Set on 11000 hectares and boasting the big 5 the private game reserve, Gondwana is set amongst fynbos and the foothills of the Outeniqua mountains, around 25 minutes drive from Mossel Bay. Kwena lodge is a modern twist on the traditional Khoi-San dwelling and each room has an 180 degree view of the rim flow pool with the fynbos and mountains behind. We went on a game drive and were entertained by an Elephant, plenty of Zebra and a hippo – an unexpected highlight was the delicious snacks and drinks in the middle of the drive on top of a koppie with 360 degree views. The big-five are free roaming and if you see animals it is a treat and because you have found them in the bush and not because they happen to be enclosed within a small area.
