I was amazed that I made it to Rwanda after the chaos of Entebbe airport where my name wasn’t on the passenger list. After a fight or two I eventually arrived in the attractive capital of Rwanda, Kigali. Kigali sits sprawled across several hills. One million people live here so it is a bustling, expanding city with good roads leading out to its immediate neighbours Uganda ,Tanzania ,Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The town is really clean by African standards- plastic bags were banned years ago and what a difference that has made. On the first Saturday of each month there is a government imposed 2 hour curfew during which residents clean their city. It shows. Here are some typical scenes in and around Kigali city…
